Iris heterochromia is a condition in which the irises of the two eyes are different colors, or there are areas of different colors on the same iris. It is usually associated with ophthalmic disorders, and in general may cause vision loss and other hazards if not treated in time.
Congenital heterochromia of the iris is only manifested in the appearance of differences from the normal population, patients often have no obvious discomfort, and is not contagious.
In addition to congenital heterochromia, acquired heterochromia is partly due to iris atrophy, which, if left untreated, is likely to have an effect on vision and cause vision loss. In some cases, iritis is combined with cataracts and glaucoma, resulting in vision loss.
Overall, don’t panic if you suffer from iris heterochromia, cooperate with your doctor for relevant examinations and actively cooperate with the treatment.
