There is no authoritative treatment stating that lutens are poisonous.
Lutong is the dried mature fruit sequence of the plant maple tree, flat in nature, bitter in flavor. Lutong has the efficacy of dispelling wind and activating collaterals, inducing diuresis and promoting menstruation.
When the patient has numbness of the limbs, contracture of the hands and feet, paralyzing pain of the joints, lactation, breast milk, edema and distension, menstrual closure and other symptoms, Lulutong can be taken under the guidance of a physician.
For the treatment of rheumatic paralysis, numbness and contracture, Lutong is often used in combination with Cynanchum, Loxidium, Macrophyllum, etc. For the treatment of stagnation of qi and blood, paralysis of veins and channels, and paralysis after stroke, Lutong can be used in combination with Radix Astragali, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, and Rhizoma Safflower.
The adverse effects of Lulutong are not clear at present. It is contraindicated in pregnant women, menorrhagia, and those with deficiency-cold hematochezia.
Lulutong should be applied under the guidance of a physician’s diagnosis, and should not be used on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
