Do you need a biopsy if your colposcopy is normal?

Normally, a normal colposcopy does not require a further biopsy. Colposcopy is a test that uses an endoscope to look at the epidermal tissue of the reproductive tract to see if there are any abnormalities in the reproductive organs. Colposcopy can be used to visualize areas that cannot be seen with the naked eye and can increase the rate of disease detection. If the results of colposcopy show no abnormal lesions, a biopsy is usually not necessary. However, if abnormal lesions are observed under colposcopy, further biopsy of the lesion is required to improve the detection rate of diseases such as cervical diseases. Through biopsy, abnormal lesions such as cervical cysts, polyps, and tumors can be further differentiated and identified as benign or malignant for further treatment.
