The difference between a ground glass nodule and a small nodule is a difference in description and a difference in reference. Small lung nodules are compared in terms of size, while ground glass nodules are compared in terms of density. A pulmonary nodule is an increase in density within the lungs, within 3cm in size. Lung nodules can be categorized into three types according to their density, including solid nodules, partially solid nodules, and ground-glass nodules, with partially solid nodules having the highest probability of malignancy, followed by ground-glass density and solid nodules. Small lung nodules, if manifested as partially solid nodules, especially partially solid nodules larger than 8mm, accompanied by short burr, lobulation, pleural pulling sign, pleural depression sign, etc., need to be alerted to the possibility of early lung cancer. After the discovery of lung nodules, first of all, the nature of nodules should be clarified as much as possible through further examination. For benign lung nodules, only follow-up observation is usually needed, which will not affect the patient’s life. For malignant lung nodules, some of them can be cured through standardized treatment.
