If a woman coughs and wets her pants, she may have stress urinary incontinence, and it is recommended that she go to the hospital for relevant tests to further clarify the diagnosis. When a woman has multiple births or grows older, she will experience pelvic floor muscle relaxation, which will result in prolapse of the pelvic floor organs, causing the bladder and urethra to move downward, and when the urethra moves downward, the pressure inside its closure drops. When coughing vigorously, the abdominal pressure rises, which is transmitted to the bladder and causes the bladder pressure to rise, and the pressure in the bladder exceeds the closing pressure of the urethra, which leads to involuntary overflow of urine from the bladder and urinary incontinence, called stress incontinence. Stress incontinence can also occur during strenuous activity or running, and requires physical examination and urodynamic testing to confirm the diagnosis, and if necessary, pelvic floor reconstruction surgery can be chosen.
