Difference between esophagoscopy and gastroscopy

Esophagoscopy and gastroscopy are relatively common clinical tests, and there are some differences between the two just from their names. Today we will talk about the differences between esophagoscopy and gastroscopy. The first is that the focus of the examination is different. The focus of esophagoscopy is on the mucosa of the esophagus and whether there are lesions in the esophageal wall. Gastroscopy not only looks at the stomach and duodenum for lesions, but also at the esophagus for lesions. The second thing is that the esophagoscope is relatively short, because the main examination of the esophagus, so the insertion of the mirror depth is relatively short. The gastroscope is relatively long, because it mainly examines the stomach and duodenum, so it is deeper. In addition, because the gastroscope needs to observe all parts of the stomach and duodenum, the softness of the gastroscope and the bending of the mirror body have high requirements, and the bending angle is relatively large, and can even reach 180 degrees. The gastroscope can also see the esophagus during the process of entering the esophagus from the mouth, and can see whether there are ulcers and esophagitis and other diseases in the esophagus, while the esophagoscope cannot check the stomach. The last thing is that esophagoscopy is mostly operated in the Department of Gastroenterology, while gastroscopy is mostly done by the Department of Gastroenterology. From the instrumentation point of view, esophagoscopy and gastroscopy belong to two different kinds. Gastroscopy can observe the esophagus at the same time, but esophagoscopy cannot observe the stomach and duodenum, and esophagoscopy cannot replace gastroscopy.
