Can a relapse of tuberculosis be cured on its own?

Once TB has recurred, the likelihood of it being cured on its own is very low. Because TB belongs to the second category of infectious diseases, it is generally categorized into two types of cases: primary treatment and relapse. Primary TB is usually treated with standardized full course of anti-TB therapy, and most patients can be cured after half a year. However, the possibility of TB drug resistance is very high in the case of retreatment TB, and the possibility of recovery is very low. Especially type III TB, infiltrative TB and cavitary TB are in the stage of long term positive and infectious stage, even if regular anti-tuberculosis drug treatment is given, there are still a great number of patients who are not able to be cured, and there is the possibility of tuberculosis infection. Therefore, the recurrence of tuberculosis is mostly considered the possibility of infectious tuberculosis, the general effect of therapeutic drugs is less than ideal, there may be lifelong drug resistance as well as the possibility of repeated transmission, resulting in a variety of complications, such as decline in lung function, respiratory failure, heart failure, hypoproteinemia, malnutrition, etc., which can cause life-threatening problems for patients. Therefore, recurrent TB needs to be treated with great attention and early isolation.
