How long does it take to recover from cyst surgery

How long it takes to recover after having cyst surgery is mainly closely related to the location of the cyst. If it is a cyst on the surface of the body, it usually takes 7 to 14 days to recover. If it is a cyst in the abdominal cavity, it needs to be shown as clean in the drainage fluid to recover gradually, and the specific recovery time depends on the situation.
1. Superficial cyst: the cyst is located on the body surface, such as sebaceous cyst. If the tumor is small and the wound is not infected, the wound will gradually recover in 7~14 days after surgery. If the sebaceous cyst is infected, it needs to be incised and drained, then the wound healing time is relatively long, usually takes 2~3 weeks or even a month to get well.
2. Abdominal organ cysts: such as liver cysts, kidney cysts. If the fluid inside the patient’s liver cyst is transparent and clear, the drain is usually removed 3~5 days after surgery. If bile is present in the cyst of the patient’s liver, it will take 1~2 months for the drain to be removed at this time.
If there is no obvious abnormal fluid in the drain, such as bleeding, then the drain can be removed. Usually, the patient’s body will return to normal in about half a month after the drain is removed.
If there is redness, swelling, heat, or pain at the wound, the patient should go to the hospital immediately.
