What’s going on with the lower eyelid fluttering?

Lower eyelid flutter is a very common condition in everyday life and can occur in people of all ages. It is mainly caused by spasm of the orbicularis oculi muscle and is associated with abnormal neuromuscular discharges. The common causes of this condition vary depending on age. In adults, lower eyelid flutter can occur due to inflammation of the eye, such as conjunctivitis or keratitis, or due to stress, overexertion, or eye strain from prolonged close eye use. In addition to these causes, lower eyelid flutter is often seen in children with ADHD or Tourette’s syndrome, who often blink and complain of lower eyelid flutter. As mentioned above, lower eyelid flutter is mainly an involuntary twitching of the eyelid caused by spasm of the orbicularis oculi muscle, mostly due to eye diseases or eye habits, and to a lesser extent due to abnormal brain discharge.
