Heat in the palm of the hand is commonly caused by yin deficiency and fire, dampness and heat in the spleen and stomach, etc. The treatment is to nourish yin and reduce fire, strengthen the spleen and clear away heat and dampness, and can be treated with Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan and Qing Zhong Tang.
Yin deficiency and fire: heat in the palms of the hands, five heart-quiet heat (heat in the palms of the hands and the hearts of the feet, and self-consciousness and heat in the heart and chest), hot flashes and night sweats (sweating abnormally after going to sleep, and the sweating stops after waking up), flushing in the cheekbones, dry mouth and throat, dizziness and tinnitus, insomnia and heartburn, dry and knotty stools, and short and red urination (urine is small in volume and dark yellow in color), etc., as a performance of Yin deficiency and fire, and can be used to treat it by Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan with additional subtractions.
Damp-heat in the spleen and stomach: heat in the palms of the hands, sweating, tightness in the chest and epigastric congestion, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, loose stools, mucus, heaviness of the limbs, etc. This is a sign of damp-heat in the spleen and stomach, and can be treated by adding and subtracting Qing Zhong Tang (清中湯).
