What is the testicular reflex

The testicular reflex is one of the superficial reflexes of the human nerve reflexes. Its examination method is to use a blunt-tipped bamboo stick or an examination instrument to lightly scratch the skin of the upper inner thigh from the bottom to the top, which can cause the contraction of the ipsilateral levator muscle and make the testicles lift up. The following diseases need to be considered when the testicular reflex is abnormal: First, the bilateral reflex disappears, which can be seen in lesions of the lumbar 1-2 segments. Secondly, a weakened or absent reflex on one side can be seen in damage to the conus fasciculus. Third, in elderly people with hydrocele, varicocele, epididymitis, or testicular tumor or spinal cord lesion, the testicular reflex may also be weakened or disappeared.
