Can snake sores be contagious?

Snakebite refers to snakebite, also commonly known as spider sores, and is medically known as herpes zoster, which is a common viral infection in dermatology. The infection is caused by the varicella-zoster virus and manifests clinically as erythema zoster distributed along a unilateral limb. The erythematous plaques are covered with clusters of blisters and are often associated with pins and needles or burning pain. Patients with shingles are contagious because they are infected with the varicella-zoster virus. Transmission is through close contact, such as contact with the patient’s herpes fluid, and also through the respiratory tract, making herpes zoster an infectious disease.
