What is the normal human basal metabolic rate

The basal metabolic rate of a normal person is 15-25%. The formula for calculating the basal metabolic rate is based on the energy metabolic rate measured when a person is awake and in a quiet resting state without stimulation from muscles, environment, temperature, food, or mental stress. It is measured early in the morning without breakfast and on an empty stomach, with the room temperature maintained at about 20°C, and lying down for more than half an hour. It is calculated according to the formula (pulse rate + pulse pressure difference) – 111, which is within ±10% of the normal adult basal metabolic rate. If the patient has hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, the basal metabolic rate will increase or decrease accordingly. Other endocrine diseases may also increase or decrease the basal metabolic rate.
