How to rub open intussusception in children

In children with intussusception, tummy rubs can be used to assist in the treatment, but it is not possible to rub it away with abdominal massage. It is recommended to follow the doctor’s advice through conservative treatment, enema or surgical treatment. When intussusception occurs, abdominal massage, such as belly rubbing, can be used to promote bowel movement, speed up defecation and relieve pain. However, intussusception is caused by a section of intestinal tube being trapped in the lumen of the adjacent intestine, resulting in the inability of intestinal contents to pass through. Therefore, simple rubbing is not possible. In general, for infants and young children without obvious symptoms, conservative treatment can be used to keep the bowel clear by laxative methods; air enema can also be used to separate the intussusception site; for those with serious symptoms, surgical resection of the intussusception segment and then intestinal anastomosis can be performed to achieve the therapeutic purpose. It is recommended that patients with intussusception should seek medical treatment in time, and should not do it on their own, so as not to cause adverse consequences or delay the condition.
