What to Examine for Anemia

Anemia examination requires blood routine, bone marrow examination, bone marrow biopsy and other items.
1. Blood routine: According to the parameters of red blood cells in the blood routine, including average red blood cell volume, average hemoglobin amount, average hemoglobin concentration, the red blood cell morphology of anemia will be classified to determine whether it is macrocytic anemia, normocytic anemia or microcytic anemia.
2. Bone marrow examination: Bone marrow cell smear can reflect the degree of proliferation of bone marrow cells, the proportion of each series of cells and morphological changes.
3. Bone marrow biopsy: Bone marrow biopsy can reflect the degree of proliferation of bone marrow hematopoietic tissue and cellular composition.
4. Other items: if iron deficiency anemia is considered, serum iron, ferritin, transferrin, etc. can be tested; if megaloblastic anemia, folic acid and vitamin B12 levels can be examined; if hemolytic anemia, serum bilirubin, acid hemolysis test, Coombs test, and urinary ferritin test can be done, and chromosomal genetic testing can be done if necessary.
If anemia is suspected, it needs to be diagnosed under the guidance of a doctor so as not to affect the condition.
