When do hypertensive patients need to start taking antihypertensive drugs

Except for mildly elevated blood pressure which can be observed for 2-3 months after detection by adjusting lifestyle while observing whether the blood pressure is lowered to normal, in general, hypertension should be treated by lowering blood pressure once it is detected. Because hypertension is one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease, the purpose of lowering blood pressure is to protect blood vessels and thus reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, in reality, there is always a reluctance to start blood pressure treatment because of the absence of symptoms or the fear of having to take medication for a long time or even for life. In conclusion, the very majority of hypertensive patients should be standardized for blood pressure-lowering treatment as soon as they are diagnosed.
