What is the general knowledge about Ménière’s disease?

Meniere’s disease is a disease of the inner ear caused by fluid accumulation in the endolymph. Its symptoms have three main characteristics: first, sudden vertigo with pallor, nausea, vomiting, and cold sweat, and fast recovery from attacks; second, tinnitus and ear blockage; third, fluctuating hearing loss, and the more attacks, the more severe the hearing loss. Meniere’s disease can be distinguished from true or false, such as plant nerve dysfunction, inadequate blood supply to the vertebral basilar artery or blood pressure fluctuations, which can also induce vertigo, nausea and vomiting, but none of them have inner ear symptoms such as tinnitus, deafness and a feeling of fullness in the ear. Therefore, it should be differentiated by hearing and cochlea electrogram. There is no unified special treatment or prevention method for this disease. In recent years, there is a new drug, scopolamine (TTS), which is suitable for the treatment of acute vertigo-like illness, please use it under the guidance of otorhinolaryngologist. In addition, acupuncture and auricular needle are also effective in controlling vertigo attacks.
