What are the causes of thyroid disease?

The process of thyroid hormone production, the conditions for thyroid cells to synthesize thyroid hormones also include three things: iodine; hormones; and liver and gallbladder qi. These three also need to cooperate with each other, without one, any one of them will be harmful to the thyroid gland. 1, iodine (equivalent to raw materials coal) usually about 50% of the body’s intake of iodine by the thyroid gland, and in the thyroid cells and proteins combined to form thyroglobulin stored, when the body needs to produce a very important advanced products – thyroid hormone (including thyroxine T4 and triiodothyronine T3 ), which is used to promote growth and development, material and energy metabolism, and nerve stimulation. If the human body consumes too much iodine, it is equivalent to adding too much coal to the generator, and that will result in two things: producing excess electricity with sufficient oxygen vapor (hyperthyroidism); and insufficient combustion with insufficient oxygen vapor, resulting in insufficient power generation (hypothyroidism) or leaving too much useless residue (thyroid nodules). Of course, if the body takes in too little iodine, it can allow this furnace to burn empty and lead to heat expansion (endemic goiter) or even overheating and explosion (thyroiditis). The incidence of thyroid disease in coastal areas is much higher than in other areas because there is too much iodine as a raw material, resulting in “excess capacity” and “excess waste”. Although iodine is very important, it is not the only factor that causes thyroid disease, and eating more iodine does not necessarily lead to thyroid disease. Many patients with hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer usually do not consume much iodine, but they also suffer from the disease, which is due to the following two factors. TSH can promote the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones, and also automatically regulate the amount of secretion in case of excessive synthesis of thyroxine, so as to achieve a dynamic balance and keep the thyroid hormones stable within a certain range. Thyroid-related hormones, mainly TSH and TRH, are secreted by the human brain, and when the brain is in a healthy state, its regulation of the thyroid gland is very precise and effective. When the brain is temporarily short-circuited, the thyroid gland becomes uncontrolled like a wild horse, either producing excess hormones (hyperthyroidism) or burning incompletely to produce excess waste and toxins (nodules). Under what conditions does this function of the brain short-circuit? These generally include: staying up late; excessive work and study stress; mental stimulation; menopause; congenital defects; and age-related degeneration. All of these are risk factors for thyroid disease, and if several factors occur at the same time, it is highly likely that thyroid disease will be triggered. In fact, from the perspective of Chinese medicine, this phenomenon can be explained more simply and clearly. According to Chinese medicine, the kidneys are responsible for the brain and marrow, and together with the three jiao, they regulate the fluids of the whole body (endocrine system). If you don’t rest at this time for a long time, the endocrine system will be disturbed and you will get sick; excessive mental stress, strong mental stimulation and overuse of the brain are all bad behaviors that hurt kidney yin, which over time will make kidney yin insufficient and make you sick; thyroid diseases in children, menopause and old age are also caused by kidney yin deficiency, either due to congenital deficiency or menopause syndrome. Either temporary deficiency due to menopause syndrome or chronic depletion deficiency due to aging. 3, the liver and gallbladder gas energy supply and regulation (equivalent to oxygen in the furnace) coal needs sufficient oxygen to generate electricity, without oxygen is inevitably unable to produce electricity smoothly and safely. The liver and gallbladder of the human body is the role of this key gas valve, the liver regulates the whole body gas (including emotions, personality, reproduction, blood), the gallbladder is in charge of detoxification and repair of necrotic cells. Once this important gas valve is out of order, the thyroid gland will not be spared.
