Whether sudden death will occur from palpitations, panic attacks and shortness of breath depends mainly on the cause of the induced symptoms, most of the causes are treatable and have a relatively good prognosis, only a very few diseases may lead to sudden death. Most of the symptoms that induce palpitations, panic attacks and shortness of breath are reversible causes, such as hypoglycemic episodes, severe anemia, hyperthyroidism, etc., and respiratory diseases, such as pneumothorax, which usually do not cause sudden death. Active treatment for the cause can cure or improve. Patients who are emotionally stressed and frightened will also have palpitations, panic attacks, shortness of breath and other uncomfortable symptoms, which will improve when the emotions stabilize. In addition, palpitations, panic and shortness of breath may also be caused by cardiogenic or pulmonary diseases, such as various types of arrhythmias. Patients may experience palpitations, panic and shortness of breath due to rapid heartbeat, and may have hemodynamic abnormalities in a short period of time, inducing sudden cardiac death. Of course, the probability of such malignant arrhythmias is relatively low, and patients are often combined with underlying cardiac diseases, such as severe heart failure or acute massive myocardial infarction. Some serious diseases of the lungs, most commonly massive pulmonary embolism, may cause sudden death as patients may suffer from hypoxia induced palpitations, panic, shortness of breath, dyspnea, chest pain, or even sudden syncope.
