Which department should be admitted for removal of intestinal polyps

Removal of intestinal polyps should reside in the Department of Gastroenterology or General Surgery. Removal of intestinal polyps consists of the following three main types: when benign polyps of small size and appropriate location are present, they can be removed under enteroscopy by ligature resection and mucosal resection; they can also be removed through the anus; and they can also be removed by open surgery through the abdomen. All three modalities require pathologic testing after removal. If endoscopic treatment is needed then hospitalization in gastroenterology is sufficient, if surgery is needed then hospitalization in general surgery is required. Regardless of the department of hospitalization, it is necessary to complete the preoperative preparations such as routine blood tests, infectious disease series, blood type tests, chest radiographs, electrocardiograms, etc., and choose the appropriate method after a comprehensive consideration of the condition.
