Symptoms of cataracts

The common symptoms of cataract include vision loss, contrast sensitivity loss, refractive changes and other symptoms. 1. Loss of vision: Blurred vision, painless loss of vision, is the most obvious and main symptom of cataract. The clouding of the lens is more obvious, and the loss of vision can be to the extent of light perception only. 2. Decreased contrast sensitivity: cataract patients have decreased ability to distinguish objects with blurred boundaries. The cataract patients’ contrast sensitivity in high spatial frequency is extremely obvious. 3. Refractive changes: Myopia may develop, and the old vision that was already there may be reduced. If the degree of clouding within the lens is different, astigmatism can also be produced, which can also lead to an inability to see objects clearly. When cataract patients suffer from vision loss, affecting normal life, it is recommended to seek early medical treatment to avoid adverse effects.
