If you find a hard lump in your breast with painful symptoms during breastfeeding, it is considered to be an inflammatory lump formed by milk stagnation and should be treated actively. The inflammatory lump can be gradually reduced by applying heat or massage. If necessary, oral anti-infective drugs can be used, such as roxithromycin dispersible tablets or penicillin V potassium tablets. If the inflammation extends, intravenous anti-infective treatment with penicillin sodium can be used. Mastitis is associated with breastfeeding practices, or broken breast skin, cracked nipples, and in severe cases, the formation of a breast abscess, where the patient may exhibit chills, high fever, or even malaise, requiring the option of surgery for drainage if necessary.
