Jaundice of 17.5mg/dl on the 9th day of life is a more serious condition, which is mostly considered to be related to pathologic jaundice and breast milk jaundice. Generally speaking, physiological jaundice will reach its peak around 7 days of life and will slowly decrease after 7 days. If the jaundice value is still high on the 9th day of life (e.g. 17.5mg/dl), it may be related to pathologic jaundice, such as hepatitis, neonatal sepsis, hemolytic disease, neonatal biliary atresia, etc., and may also be related to breast milk jaundice. Pathological jaundice is more serious, need to go to the hospital for further examination of the primary disease, active treatment; breast milk jaundice need to reduce or suspend breastfeeding, if necessary, cooperate with the doctor for blue light treatment.
