Survival time after stem cell transplantation

Stem cell transplants may have a survival time of only a few years or a normal life expectancy, depending on the primary disease and the type of transplant. Stem cell transplantation includes both autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. 1. Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is mainly used in the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma and lymphoma. The general survival period of patients with multiple myeloma after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is about 3~4 years, and the longest survival time is not more than 20 years. After lymphoma patients receive autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, the survival period of some patients can be the same as that of normal people, reaching 10~20 years. 2. After receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for certain acute leukemia patients, if they do not have relapse and can achieve the effect of complete cure, the survival time will be longer, but if there is a relapse, the general survival time will not be more than half a year. Diagnosis and treatment of specific diseases should be carried out under the guidance of a physician.
