Folliculitis corresponds to the category of “boils” in Chinese medicine, and Ghost Needlewort can treat boils. Boils are acute suppurative disorders of small size on the superficial parts of the skin. It is characterized by redness, pain, burning, limited swelling, shallow protrusion, easy to become pus, easy to break, easy to converge. Treatment is mainly based on clearing away heat and detoxification (removing heat and toxicity from the body). Ghost Needlewort has the effect of clearing heat and removing toxins, dispelling wind and dampness (removing wind and dampness from the body), promoting blood circulation and subduing swelling. It is used for sore throat, diarrhea, dysentery, jaundice, carbuncle (carbuncle occurring in the bowels of the intestines, with fever, pain in the right abdomen, and palpable lump as a manifestation), furuncle (mostly occurring in the limbs or facial sores, with a small shape and a deep root base, such as nails, hard), swelling and poisoning, snake bite, rheumatism and paralysis, and bruises.
