Since the visual impairment caused by glaucoma is irreversible, early detection and timely treatment to control the progression of the disease is especially important. People at high risk of developing glaucoma need to be alert and screened for early diagnosis. Timely treatment is needed to stop or delay the progression of the disease and to preserve vision to the maximum extent possible. Therefore, to reduce the risk of glaucoma on vision, two things need to be done: first, screening of people at risk, and who are those at risk? Although glaucoma can occur at any age, research data shows that the following five groups of people at risk are more likely to suffer from glaucoma: 1. diabetic people. Diabetic glaucoma is mostly neovascular glaucoma, which often occurs in the middle and late stages of diabetic retinopathy, where ischemic changes in the retina lead to the formation of iris neovascularization, which in turn leads to neovascular glaucoma. 2. People with a family history of glaucoma. There is evidence that there are genetic factors in the family line of glaucoma, and it has been found in the clinic that there are multiple cases in the same family. 3, hypertensive people. According to the survey, hypertension not only increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, but also directly endangers vision. Studies have shown that people with hypertension have a 1 times higher chance of developing “normal eye pressure glaucoma” than others, 4, people with high myopia of 600 degrees or more. Because of high myopia, the number of trabecular meshwork becomes smaller and the aperture of trabecular meshwork becomes smaller, making the resistance to atrial flow increase, which can easily cause an increase in intraocular pressure. Patients with a history of ocular trauma or eye disease with previous fundus bleeding or intraocular inflammation have a higher chance of developing glaucoma. 5. People over 50 years old. After the age of 50, the nucleus of the eye will gradually harden and become larger, and the anterior chamber of the eye will become shallower, which increases the chance of blockage of the atrial fluid drainage channel, and once the atrial fluid circulation is not smooth, blockage may lead to increased intraocular pressure. People who spend a lot of time facing computers are twice as likely to develop glaucoma as the general population Screening of high-risk groups can identify preclinical patients and those who have developed the disease but have atypical symptoms, so that timely measures can be taken to save their vision. Secondly, we should strengthen the health education of glaucoma to make patients and their families aware of the characteristics and hazards of the disease, which leads to optic nerve atrophy, visual field shrinkage and vision loss. Once you have glaucoma, you must treat it as a bilateral disease, and you cannot blindly think that I am blind in one eye but still have the other eye. We must actively save the residual vision, actively cooperate with the treatment, regular follow-up, improve the patient’s compliance, and avoid regrets for life.
