Is there a big difference between 2mm and 3mm lung nodules?

The difference between 2mm and 3mm lung nodules is not particularly significant. For single tiny nodules smaller than 5mm, their qualitative diagnosis is extremely difficult, and most tend to be benign, so in clinical management, more observation and regular follow-up are often recommended.
Lung nodule is an imaging description that generally refers to a rounded, confined shadow with increased density that can be seen in the lungs. Typically, those smaller than 30 mm are called nodules, while those larger than 30 mm are called masses. In general, a diameter of <5mm is called a micronodule, and a diameter of 5mm-10mm is called a pulmonary nodule.
Lung nodules of 2mm and lung nodules of 3mm are both micronodules, and the difference is not particularly significant. For small lung nodules less than 5mm, the possibility of malignancy is less than 1%, just need to regularly review and observe the changes of the nodules, do not worry too much.
If the patient is older than 40 years old and long-term smoking or long-term exposure to second-hand smoke, family history of malignant tumors, high-risk groups, should follow the doctor’s instructions for regular review of chest CT, if the size and density of the lesions in the follow-up appeared to increase, or vascular signs, vacuolar signs and other malignant phenomena, you need to improve the bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy and other tests to clarify the pathology, and if necessary, surgical treatment.
If lung nodules are found, it is recommended to consult the doctor in time and follow the medical advice for regular follow-up or treatment.
