Erythromycin granules for children with urinary tract infections?

Erythromycin granules are not recommended for the treatment of urinary tract infections in children. Erythromycin granules belong to the antibiotic class of drugs, but the common causative organism of urinary tract infection is Escherichia coli, which is not sensitive to Erythromycin granules, so it is not recommended to use Erythromycin granules for the treatment of children’s urinary tract infection. Erythromycin granules are macrolide antibiotics, with antibacterial activity against staphylococci, streptococci and gram-positive bacilli, and Neisseria, Haemophilus influenzae, Bortetella pertussis, and certain anaerobes can also be sensitive to erythromycin granules. The most common causative organisms of urinary tract infections are Escherichia coli, followed by Klebsiella, Proteus, Citrobacter, Enterococcus, etc. These causative organisms are not sensitive to Erythromycin Granules, so it is not recommended to use Erythromycin Granules for the treatment of children’s urinary tract infections. Children’s urinary tract infections can be treated with E. coli-sensitive antibiotics such as amoxicillin and cefixime under doctor’s supervision, and the specific use of which drug should be determined by bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test.
