New Advances in Stem Cells for Lung Disease

Stem cell therapy for lung disease has now evolved to the use of secreted extracts of stem cells for the treatment of lung disease.
Stem cell therapy may regulate inflammatory and immune responses and promote damaged cell repair and regeneration by secreting soluble secretome. Extracting secretory components of stem cells for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis is not only highly efficacious, but may also be a good solution to the potential safety concerns of stem cell therapy.
MSCs have been effective in treating bronchopulmonary dysplasia and are currently in clinical trials, but there are still challenges before they can be truly used in the clinic.
When lung disease is present, specialist consultation and standardized treatment is recommended.
