What are the symptoms of a thyroid nodule?

Most of the thyroid nodules are asymptomatic and are only found by chance during ultrasound examination; larger thyroid nodules may show symptoms of compression; nodules combined with abnormal thyroid function may show symptoms of hyper- or hypothyroidism. 1. Compression symptoms: when the nodule compresses the surrounding tissues, such as compressing the trachea, symptoms of dyspnea and coughing may occur; compressing the esophagus, dysphagia may occur; compressing the recurrent laryngeal nerve, hoarseness or loss of voice may occur. 2. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism: such as palpitations, excessive sweating, agitation, anxiety, irritability, fear of heat, hyperphagia, flushing and so on. 3. Hypothyroidism symptoms: such as easy fatigue, fear of cold, low sweat, slow reaction, drowsiness, non-sunken edema, loss of appetite, anemia, fatigue, and so on. Patients with the above symptoms of thyroid nodules are recommended to go to the hospital for timely treatment.
