Where to feel for thyroid self-examination

Thyroid self-examination is generally referred to as thyroid palpation, the main part of which is the lower part of the cricoid cartilage in the neck. The thyroid gland is palpated below the cricoid cartilage of the neck, on both sides of the trachea, and the two lateral lobes and isthmus of the thyroid gland can be touched. At the same time, the thyroid gland can be touched with the swallowing motion, and the thyroid gland can be felt to move with swallowing, and it can be felt to see if there is enlargement of the thyroid gland, whether the texture is soft or not, and whether there is unevenness on the surface as well as the sense of nodules, and so on. However, the normal size of the thyroid gland is not large and cannot be touched, but only when there is an enlarged thyroid gland or a nodule that can be touched. Patients suspected of having a thyroid disorder are advised to visit a hospital.
