Pros and cons of open-heart and minimally invasive valve surgery

Conventional open-heart surgery, with mature surgical techniques, relatively clear surgical field, large surgical operation space, operation indeed, but the surgical trauma is relatively large; minimally invasive surgery as the name implies is relatively less traumatic, but the surgical operation is relatively more difficult than the former. The size of cardiac surgery trauma is not only the incision, but also the length of extracorporeal circulation and the satisfaction of cardiac lesion repair. The premise of minimally invasive surgery is not to reduce the degree of perfection of cardiac repair. In cases where the surgical field is poorly revealed, minimally invasive surgery requires a high degree of skill on the part of the surgeon, extracorporeal circulation line equipment and specialized surgical instruments, and needs to be performed in a large center with proven technology.
