Knee rattling during leg extension is usually caused by physiological popping sound, or pathological factors such as meniscus injury, knee joint effusion, etc. According to the different symptoms and causes of the disease, we will choose the general treatment, medication and surgical treatment.
1. Physiological factors: friction between the air and the joint cavity during expansion and contraction causes knee popping. There is no need for special treatment, usually pay attention to rest, reduce weight-bearing activities, such as running, lifting weights, and so on.
2. Pathological factors
(1) Meniscus injury: the noise is caused by the lack of coordination between the related tissues. Surgery is the main treatment, and arthroscopic meniscus suture can be taken.
(2) Knee joint effusion: friction and impact between the joints and the fluid, resulting in the appearance of rattling. First of all, rest is needed. In the early stage of acute trauma, the affected limb should be elevated and the knee joint should be iced. Patients with a large amount of knee joint effusion leading to swelling and pain in the knee joint as well as joint limitation can use knee arthrocentesis to relieve the symptoms, and apply pressure bandage after the operation to avoid re-accumulation of the effusion.
The above symptoms can be observed for the first time, if the symptoms continue without relief, and accompanied by knee pain, limited mobility, etc., you need to consult a doctor in a timely manner, a clear diagnosis, and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
