How to care for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

  Nasopharyngeal cancer is one of the common malignant tumors, and radiation therapy is the main means of treatment for nasopharyngeal cancer, but radiation therapy can also bring many adverse effects to patients. Therefore, radiation therapy should focus on the treatment and care of adverse reactions in order to make the radiotherapy plan completed successfully.  1.Psychological care Before starting radiotherapy, accompany the patient to visit the machine room to eliminate the patient’s unfamiliar psychology, establish a good nurse-patient relationship with kind words, smiling expressions, skilled technology and solid theoretical knowledge, and enhance the patient’s confidence to overcome the disease.  2, irradiated area skin care With the increase of radiation therapy dose, the irradiated field skin will have different degrees of damage, explain to the patient that these are normal phenomena. Patients should choose cotton underwear, preferably without collar, which can reduce the friction on the skin of the neck, avoid using irritating soap or iodophor, alcohol, etc. to wipe the skin of the irradiated area, and protect the radiotherapy marker to ensure the accuracy of radiation therapy.  3.Oral care During radiotherapy, oral mucosa may change to different degrees. Patients should brush their teeth with a soft toothbrush and rinse more after meals, while paying attention to dietary hygiene and using separate utensils. Tooth extraction is prohibited within 3 years after radiotherapy to avoid causing osteitis of the jaw.  4.Care of radioactive otitis media and nose and eyes Care of nose and eyes should be paid attention to in radiotherapy, pay attention to the local cleanliness of radiotherapy, saline rinse nasal cavity twice a day, paraffin oil can be used to lubricate the nasal cavity when it is dry, and pay attention to whether there is bleeding in the nasal cavity. Antibiotics can be used for the ears and eyes, such as oxyfloxacin eye drops and ear drops.  5.Dietary care During radiotherapy, patients should drink more water to increase the amount of urine, accelerate the excretion of toxins, reduce nephrotoxicity, eat more high-protein, high vitamin, low-fat food and fresh fruits and vegetables, eat less and more meals, prohibit smoking, alcohol and spicy, too cold, hot and hard food.  6, oral function exercise After radiotherapy, due to masticatory muscle and mandibular joint fiber degeneration, can lead to mouth opening difficulties, patients should do more oral function exercise, such as the size of the mouth and the same size of grapes, small tomatoes and other fruits into the mouth fixed 2-3min, or practice mouth opening, knocking teeth, up and down, left and right to move the oral joints.
