Newborn jaundice can be relieved by drinking water

Drinking water does not relieve neonatal jaundice. Clinically, we sometimes see patients’ families giving their children glucose water, which not only does not reduce jaundice, but also poses a risk of hyperglycemia, which is wrong. The main means of treatment for neonatal jaundice is phototherapy and medication, and further severe jaundice requires blood exchange. For jaundice, the production, metabolism, and excretion of jaundice are involved. The main source of neonatal jaundice production is senescent red blood cells and also myoglobin. The metabolism of bilirubin, which is mainly done in the liver, and the excretion of bilirubin, any factor that affects the production, metabolism, and excretion of bilirubin, can lead to increased jaundice in newborns. Therefore, treatment is based on the cause.
