How to eat for diabetics

People often use “sweet” to describe the good life, but in the eyes of many diabetics, “sugar” is the culprit of diabetes, “sugar” let him (her) love and hate, but have to respect and stay away. But have to respect and stay away. So, is “sugar” really that bad? This is not the case. From the perspective of nutrition, sugar (also known as “carbohydrates”) is a large class of nutrients, and most of the sugars people refer to in daily life are sweetened “monosaccharides” and disaccharides. “Monosaccharides include glucose in blood, fructose in fruits and galactose in milk, which can be directly absorbed by the body and significantly increase blood sugar after consumption, therefore, diabetic patients should not eat monosaccharides, except when low blood sugar should be taken in time. Disaccharides include sucrose, maltose and lactose, which can be quickly broken down into monosaccharides in the intestine and should not be eaten. “Polysaccharide”, also known as polysaccharide or complex sugar, refers to the starch contained in noodles, bread, rice, steamed buns, cookies, yams and pumpkin, which is digested and decomposed into glucose by amylase after ingestion, and then slowly enters the bloodstream, which does not cause a sharp rise in blood sugar. Blood sugar is equivalent to the gasoline needed for a car. Its function is mainly to provide the energy needed by various organs (such as brain, heart and muscles), and 55-60% of the energy needed by the human body comes from sugar. After glucose enters human cells, it is metabolized within the cells and releases energy for use in the activities of various organs of the body. After eating food, glucose levels in the blood begin to rise, at which point the pancreas secretes insulin into the blood to assist in the entry of glucose into the cells. To use an analogy, the cells are compared to a house, and insulin is the key that opens the door to the house, and glucose enters the cells by this key. Diabetes is not caused by eating too much sugar. Diabetes is caused by an absolute or relative shortage of insulin, which is responsible for sugar regulation in the body, resulting in impaired absorption and utilization of sugar, leading to an increase in blood sugar, which is not directly related to the intake of sugar. As long as the patient has normal pancreatic function, even if he or she eats more sugar, the blood glucose can still be maintained in the normal range. At present, it is believed that the occurrence of diabetes is related to various factors such as genetics, environment, obesity and immune disorders, therefore, it is inaccurate to say that “diabetes is caused by eating more sugar”, but after getting diabetes, in order to control blood sugar, the intake of simple sugar (candy, juice, etc.) should be reduced. Fourth, the “fear of sugar” can be rested due to the lack of knowledge of diabetes, many diabetic patients to “sugar” fear of tiger, afraid of “sugar” afraid to death, afraid to touch the fruit, afraid to eat rice and noodles. Day after day to vegetables instead of food, day after day hunger, forcing themselves to live an “ascetic” type of life, resulting in malnutrition, physical decline, low immunity, and even out of other diseases. In fact, sugar is the main source of energy for human life activities, slightly high blood sugar, if you can reasonably control the diet, appropriate exercise, can keep blood sugar stable. Fifth, we should learn to consume “sugar” scientifically and reasonably. Diet therapy should adhere to the sixteen-word policy: total control, equal (heat) exchange, appropriate ratio, and a variety of recipes. In the pyramid recipes, food is the base of the tower, accounting for about 50% to 60% of the total daily food. For example, five or six taels of staple food daily, want to eat a little vermicelli, potatoes or sweet potatoes, can be deducted in the rice or pasta. Diabetic patients can not have to reject all the fruits, but we must grasp four points: grasp the condition, grasp the timing, grasp the type, grasp the quantity. Generally speaking, when blood sugar is high, temporarily do not eat fruit, you can use cucumber, tomatoes instead, and then eat fruit after blood sugar control is stable; try to choose fruits with high water content and low sugar content; do not eat immediately after meals, should be eaten in between meals; do not eat more, and the calories contained in fruits should be deducted from the main food. Of course, unless it is to rescue hypoglycemia, white sugar or candy should be regarded as a contraindication for diabetics.
