Macular retinoschisis refers to a highly myopic retinoschisis that occurs in the center of the macula. Treatment includes follow-up observation and surgery.
1. Follow-up observation: For early-stage macular retina splitting without clinical symptoms and non-progression, regular follow-up observation is the main measure, and detailed fundus examination should be performed in the ophthalmology department every 3~6 months. If sudden vision loss occurs, it is necessary to consult a doctor as soon as possible to rule out vision loss caused by retinal detachment or macular schisis.
2. Surgery: When retinal detachment, macular degeneration, or pathologic macular structural changes occur, vitrectomy will achieve good results. For macular schisis with posterior scleral staphyloma, scleral reinforcement can be used.
