Application of “Rapid Bone Anchor Nail” in orthopaedic surgery for cerebral palsy

FSPR is unique in relieving muscle spasticity, but it is difficult to treat joint deformities and soft tissue contractures. Therefore, in some cases, FSPR should be followed by second-stage orthopedic surgery, such as selective peripheral nerve narrowing, tendon severance and joint capsule release, joint fusion or osteotomy, in order to receive the best treatment results. Many scholars advocate that for patients with spastic cerebral palsy combined with fixed deformities, it is feasible to perform second-stage orthopedic surgery 1 to 12 months after FSPR. Joint contractures generally require stage II surgery. Mild deformities can be improved or corrected with training. For more severe deformities, come back to the hospital after at least six months of training after FSPR to review and determine which areas need stage II surgical treatment. In the orthopedic treatment of cerebral palsy, Prof. Chengyan Sun pioneered the use of bone anchor nail material for tendon displacement and fixation, which has brought both phases of cerebral palsy surgery into the field of micro-invasive neurosurgery, providing a reliable guarantee of postoperative spinal stability and significantly shortening postoperative recovery time. In the past, wire fixation was used for tendon transposition and fixation in cerebral palsy stage II orthopedic surgery, but with the development of newer technology, Prof. Sun Chengyan was the first in China to use “rapid bone anchor nail” for tendon transposition and fixation. In addition to ligament repair and reconstruction, bone anchor nail was also used for tendon stop reconstruction and shoulder lock joint dislocation repair, etc. Under the premise of reasonable indications, bone anchor nail was also used for the repair and reconstruction of medial collateral ligament and soft tissue of knee joint, which has the advantages of easy operation and satisfactory results. In orthopaedic surgery of cerebral palsy, the application of “Rapid Bone Anchor Nail” is a new breakthrough and has been used in a large number of cases with good results. Compared with the traditional wire fixation, the “Rapid Bone Anchor Nail” has the advantages of stability, firmness, precision and high success rate, and has made great progress in the treatment of cerebral palsy. Therefore, it is the secret weapon of cerebral palsy surgery, and its application in cerebral palsy surgery is a revolutionary progress in cerebral palsy treatment technology. Along with the above-mentioned work in large quantities, Professor Sun Chengyan also applied this technology to carry out surgical treatment of cerebral stroke, traumatic brain injury, and limb palsy after spinal cord injury, and achieved promising results.
