What constitutes a bony nasal septum

The nasal septum is composed of the cartilaginous part and the bony septum, which consists of three main bones. The first one is the vertical plate of the septum, which is the most important component of the bony septum. The second is the plow bone, which is involved in the posterior end of the bony septum and is also one of the structures of the posterior nostril. The third is the maxillary palatine process, which is located in the lower part of the bony nasal septum, mainly in the area of the junction between the septum and the nasal floor. The connection between the three bones of the bony septum is not absolutely straight, as the three bones are not developed to the same degree and can form a deviation of the bony septum. The surface of the nasal septum is composed of the covered squamous epithelium as well as the cartilaginous membrane together, and the septum divides the nasal cavity into two parts, the left and the right.
