What is the success rate of stoma retraction surgery

The success rate of stoma retrieval is about 95% or more. Most of the stomas that have been done for benign reasons need to be retrieved. The surgery as a whole is not particularly complicated and only requires opening part of the abdominal cavity, reattaching the intestine from the original tract and returning it to the abdominal cavity. The surgery can be completed in about 2 hours and most of them are relatively successful. However, the recovery is different for each person because their physical condition is different. Some people are in poor health and recover more slowly. Even for benign tumors, the stoma may fail after reentry and require another surgery. There are also some people, who have a temporary stoma because of malignant tumor, and there is a possibility of tumor recurrence and metastasis after the return of the stoma.
