How long after lymph node dissection of the neck without swelling and numbness

Swelling and numbness occur after cervical lymph node dissection. The swelling takes 1-2 days to resolve, and numbness of the skin and surrounding tissues of the neck occurs after surgery, and its recovery depends on the individual. The posterior cervical triangle needs to be cleared during cervical lymph node contouring, and the posterior cervical triangle may be touched in this plane or the brachial plexus nerve and phrenic nerve may be injured when doing posterior cervical triangle clearance. In addition, the cervical 2, 3 and 4 nerve roots need to be severed and ligated, so this is the location most likely to bleed and cause numbness after surgery. Protection of the nerve also requires dissection of the nerve. Patients with bleeding or edema at the wound 24 hours after surgery are given timely hemostasis and postoperative conditioning, and all recover within 3 days. The recovery period for nerve injury is longer, some patients may need 1-2 weeks, and there will be neck discomfort after discharge, but they will recover with slow recuperation.
