The normal texture of the liver is soft. If the liver is subjected to chronic liver damage for a long period of time, the process of damage and repair leads to the deposition of fibrous tissue in the liver, thus causing the liver to become hard. Patients may be suffering from liver diseases, such as cirrhosis, liver cancer and other diseases can lead to liver hardness.
1. Cirrhosis: In cirrhosis, the liver is mainly characterized by degeneration and necrosis of liver cells, regeneration of cellular nodules, proliferation of tissues and formation of fibrous septum, which ultimately lead to destruction of hepatic lobular structure and formation of pseudo lobe, and thus the liver will be hardened and deformed.
2. Liver cancer: Liver fibrosis and cirrhosis often evolve into liver cancer, so liver cancer will have progressive enlargement of liver, hardening of liver, and often appearing nodules of different sizes.
Cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma cause great damage to human health, therefore, cirrhosis should be controlled as early as possible, and hepatocellular carcinoma should be surgically resected as early as possible.
