What is insomnia?

  Insomnia refers to the frequent failure to get normal sleep. In mild cases, it is difficult to fall asleep or sleep without soundness, sometimes waking up and not being able to sleep again after waking up, and in severe cases, the whole night can be sleepless. It is called “sleeplessness” or “sleeplessness” in ancient literature.  This evidence is often accompanied by headache, dizziness, palpitation, forgetfulness and other symptoms. Where insomnia is the main symptom, it belongs to the scope of discussion in this section.  1. Diagnosis (clinical manifestations) 1.1 Heart and spleen deficiency: dreaminess and wakefulness, palpitation and forgetfulness, fatigue, tasteless diet, pale tongue with thin coating and weak pulse.  1.2 Yin deficiency and fire exuberance: distraction and insomnia, dizziness and tinnitus, dry mouth with little fluid, irritable heat in the five hearts, red tongue and fine pulse. Or dream loss, forgetfulness, palpitations, etc.  1.3 Internal disturbance of phlegm and fire: insomnia, chest tightness and head heaviness, heart trouble and bitterness, dizziness, greasy and yellow coating, slippery pulse.  1.4 Liver stagnation and fire: insomnia, impatience and irritability, lack of food and drink, thirst, red eyes and bitter mouth, yellow urine and constipation, red tongue, yellow moss, and stringy and counted pulse.  2. Identification 2.1 Heart and spleen deficiency: Long-term overthinking and straining, injury to the heart and spleen, blood depletion, inability to nourish the heart, resulting in restlessness of the mind and insomnia.  2.2 Yin deficiency and fire; weakness or long illness or overworking, deficiency of kidney yin, heart and kidney do not meet, water does not control fire, then the heart fire is hyperactive and the mind is restless, thus insomnia.  2.3 Internal disturbance of phlegm and fire: uncontrolled diet. Gastrointestinal injury, stagnation of the food, which becomes phlegm-heat, yong curb in the middle, phlegm-heat disturbance, gastric disharmony, so that sleep can not rest.  2.4 Liver depression and fire: irritation and anger hurt the liver, the liver loses its control, the gas is depressed, depression and fire, the fire is inflammatory, disturbing the mind and the spirit, the spirit is not at ease and insomnia.  Although there are many causes of insomnia, they are always related to the deficiency of heart, spleen, liver, kidney and Yin blood. Because the source of blood, by the water and grain of the essence of the transformation, up to the heart, the experience of the heart to nourish; by the liver, the liver body soft; regulating the spleen, the biochemical endless, regulate the degree, and turned into essence, the internal storage in the kidney, the kidney essence up to the heart, the heart Qi down to the kidneys, then the gods peace of mind. If anger, thought, depression, fatigue, etc., wounding the organs, the essence and blood internal depletion, the cause of the disease and the evidence of each other, every more to form a stubborn insomnia. Insomnia deficiency is the most common.  3. Treatment 3.1 Treatment principle: strengthen the spleen and calm the mind. Deficiency is supplemented by nourishing Yin and nourishing Blood; actual symptoms are accompanied by draining the liver and clearing heat and phlegm.  3.2 Basic treatment: 3.2.1 Head, face, neck and shoulders (1) Acupuncture points: Yin Tang, Shenting, Miming, Zanzhu, Sun, Jiao Sun, Fengchi, shoulder well, etc. (2) Techniques: One-finger meditation pushing, kneading, pressing, holding, wiping, etc.  (3) Operation: First, use the one-finger meditation pushing or kneading method, starting from the Hall of Indigo and going up to the Divine Court, round-trip 5-6 times. Then from the Hall of Indigo to the arch of the eyebrows on both sides to the solar plexus and back 5-6 times. Then use the one-finger meditation pushing method to treat along the orbital area, 3-4 times round trip, and then from the Hall of Indigo down along the sides of the nose through Yingxiang, along the cheekbones, to the front of the two ears, 2-3 times round trip. During the treatment process, focus on Yin Tang, Shenting, Miming, Zanzhu and Sun; along the above treatment areas, together with pressing Jiao Sun; starting from the top of the head with the five-finger holding method, and turning to the lower part of the occipital bone with the three-finger holding method, together with pressing and holding the shoulder wells on both sides. About ten minutes.  3.2.2 Abdominal operations (1) Points: Zhonggui, Qihai, Guangyuan. (2) Technique: kneading, pressing, moxibustion, etc.  (3) Operation: moxibustion in a clockwise direction with simultaneous pressing and kneading of Zhonggui, Qihai and Guan Yuan. Duration: about 6 minutes.  3.3.1 Heart and spleen deficiency: (1) Press and knead Heart Yu, Liver Yu, Stomach Yu, Small Intestine Yu, and Foot San Li. Each point for about 1 minute.  (2) Rub the left side of the back horizontally and the dorsal dorsal meridian directly, to the extent of penetrating heat.  3.3.2 Yin deficiency and fire: (1) Push the Qiaogong point: push the Qiaogong point on one side 20-30 times, then push the Qiaogong point on the other side.  (2) Cross-rubbing the Kidney Yu and the Gate of Life to penetrate the heat, then rubbing the Yongquan points on both sides to induce fire to return to the source.  3.3.3 Phlegm fire internal disturbance: (1) Treat with kneading along both sides of the back spine, focusing on Spleen Yu, Stomach Yu, and Heart Yu, with gentle techniques, for about 5 minutes. Then press the above acupuncture points.  (2) Combine the abdominal massage with the massage of Zhonggui, Qihai, Guanyuan, Shenqu, Fusanli and Fenglong.  (3) Cross-rub the eight s points on the left back and sacrum to penetrate heat.  Sleep is a common clinical condition. The pace of people’s work and life in modern society has accelerated compared to the past. Being in this fast-paced state for a long time, the high level of mental excitement and tension is a factor leading to insomnia. Therefore, in clinical treatment, patients should be allowed to avoid overwork and strong mental stimulation in order to achieve better results.
