O-shaped leg, that is, knee inversion, underage patients can wear the appropriate braces under the guidance of the physician, can play a certain role in assisting, the younger the patient the better the effect, do not recommend adult patients to wear braces.
Knee inversion manifests itself as an obvious gap between the knees when the legs are stretched out and brought together, and is mostly seen in infants and young children. The majority of infants and young children have physiologic inversion of the knee, most often before the age of 2 years; with the development of the child’s bones, around the age of 2 years, inversion of the knee will gradually change to a neutral position; around the age of 4 years old, it will be manifested as inversion of the knee.
At the age of about 7 years, it is spontaneously corrected and returns to a neutral position. This is a normal growth and development process and does not require treatment. Only very few cases of pathologic inversion of the knee are characterized by asymmetry of the lower limbs and failure of the knee to return to a neutral position after 3 years of age, and require early intervention.
The treatment of pathologic entropion is based on removing the causative factors, first of all, it should be clarified whether there is a primary disease or bad exertion habits, if the effect is not good after treatment, it can be considered to wear orthotics treatment. Braces can play a certain role in correction and treatment, but only for children with mild symptoms. If the symptoms are severe, orthopedic open surgery can be considered.
It is recommended that patients go to regular hospitals for treatment, and if the doctor recommends wearing braces, they should get them made by regular orthotists in regular hospitals, and it is not recommended to buy them on their own.
