The time for the scab to fall off naturally is not completely fixed, and in most cases the scab will fall off within 7-14 days. However, the shedding of the scab is closely related to many factors, such as the size of the wound, the depth of the wound, the cause of the wound, the patient’s own physical condition, the proper care of the wound, and the formation of infection under the scab, all of which have a great deal to do with the shedding of the scab. Generally speaking, superficial wounds, which are not very large, can fall off in about 7 days if they are treated properly. However, in some special cases, such as pressure ulcers, the scabs are usually thicker and difficult to fall off naturally, and most of them will form scabs or accumulate pus after a period of time, about 1-2 months, at which time surgical scab cutting is required to prevent further infection.
