What should I pay attention to after meals when lower esophageal sphincter relaxation occurs?

Patients presenting with lower oesophageal sphincter relaxation should not lie down immediately after eating, in order to reduce recumbency and nocturnal reflux. Food should not be eaten within 2 hours before bedtime and the head of the bed can be picked up 15-20cm higher at bedtime to effectively prevent the development of gastro-oesophageal reflux symptoms.
