Prolactinomas and pituitary tumors are not the same thing. Pituitary tumors are divided into functional pituitary tumors and non-functional pituitary tumors, of which prolactinoma is the most common functional pituitary tumor. 1. Prolactinoma: It is the most common functional pituitary tumor, mostly benign, with oncogene activation and inactivation of oncogenes as the probable reasons for promoting the formation of prolactinoma. Clinical manifestations mainly include hyperprolactinemia and symptoms related to central nervous system stress. 2. Pituitary tumors: a group of tumors originated from adenopituitary gland, neuropituitary gland and residual squamous epithelium of embryonic craniopharyngeal bursa, most of them are benign tumors, and hormone secretion malfunction, gene mutation, and changes in expression of tumor-associated genes are involved in the formation of tumors. When symptoms appear, they mainly manifest as symptoms caused by the compression of surrounding tissues by tumor occupying effect, hormone secretion abnormality syndrome and so on. If prolactinoma or pituitary tumor is diagnosed, early and standardized treatment is recommended.
