Metoprolol tartrate tablets are recommended to be taken with warm water, on an empty stomach, preferably 1 hour after a meal. Taking the drug with a meal increases the bioavailability of metoprolol by 40%, so it is recommended to take it on an empty stomach. Unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction is used within the first few hours. Adverse reactions such as fatigue, headache, and chest pain may occur after administration and usually resolve gradually after discontinuation of the drug. The drug should be used with caution in children, patients driving and operating machinery, and athletes. Cardiogenic shock, hypersensitivity to this drug or to the ingredients in the formulation, pregnant and lactating women, symptomatic bradycardia or hypotension, are prohibited from using this drug. This drug should be avoided in conjunction with barbiturates, such as pentobarbital.
