Acupressure points for sciatic nerve pain

Sciatica can be treated by rubbing and pressing the affected acupoints with the thumb, forefinger or middle finger.
Sciatica in Chinese medicine belongs to the “paralysis”, mostly seen in the buttocks, the back of the thighs, calves, lateral, posterior and feet radiating pain, treatment points are from these places.
The waist and buttocks can be massaged with the Large Intestine Yu, Guanyuan Yu, Chibian and Huanjiao. The large intestine and Guanyuan Yu are located 1.5 inches below the spinous processes of the 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae, respectively. Chichibian is located 3 inches beside the sacral fissure, leveling the fourth post-sacral foramen. Huanjiu is located in the outer third of the line between the sacral cleft and the greater trochanter of the femur.
The legs can be massaged with Yin Men, located 6 inches directly below the midpoint of the transverse line under the buttocks on the back of the thighs. Commission Zhong is located at the midpoint of the popliteal fossa. Chengshan is located in the depression at the lower edge of the calf muscle protrusion when standing on tiptoe.
Yanglingquan is located in the depression on the outer lower side of the knee. Hang Zhong is located 3 inches above the tip of the outer ankle. The Foot Sanli is located four transverse fingers below the eye of the outer knee. Sanyinjiao is located 3 inches above the tip of the inner ankle.
If you can’t find any of the above points, you can also massage the a-shi points (the points where the pain is noticeable), i.e., the places where you feel pain. Find 5 to 7 of these points where you feel pain and knead and press them, which can soothe the tendons and activate the collaterals to relieve pain.
The operation should be guided or carried out by a professional physician to avoid adverse effects.
