What is the effect of Xiangsu San?

Xiangsu San is effective in dispersing wind-cold, regulating qi and harmonizing the middle (regulating the qi of the spleen and stomach to make the spleen and stomach function smoothly).
Xiangsu San is composed of Xiangshu, Perilla leaf, roasted licorice and Chenpi. It is used in cases of external wind-cold infection with Qi depression. Malignant cold (fear of cold), body heat, headache without sweating, chest and epigastric congestion, lack of appetite, thin white tongue coating, floating pulse. (This formula is often used in gastrointestinal colds that are characterized by wind-cold sensation and stagnation of qi.)
In this formula, Su Ye publishes and disperses cold, regulates qi and relaxes the middle (regulates the qi of the spleen and stomach); Xiang Fu promotes qi and opens depression; if Su Ye is assisted by Xiang Fu, it will regulate and smooth the qi; if Xiang Fu is promoted and dispersed by Su Ye, it will be able to move upward and outward to get rid of the evil; Chen Pi assists in promoting the circulation of qi stagnation and smoothing qi, which helps to remove dampness and turbidity and promote the circulation of body fluids. Glycyrrhiza glabra strengthens the spleen and neutralizes the middle, and matches with Xiangsui and Chenpi to move qi without depleting qi and harmonize the medicinal properties.
